Engagement Style

We have worked in multiple cultures all over the world and in numerous different business sectors. At Andover Partners, our Methodology is geared toward global business.

As such, every Engagement is unique (because every Client’s needs are different). However, all Engagements have a certain “flavor” (or “flavour if you are from the EU):

  • Everything we do is completely confidential. There are no “reports” or “back channel” conversations with anybody at the Client firm. We are not spies. As a result, over time, Clients we work with feel that they can share their most important confidences with us, which results in our being able to provide much more meaningful and personalized benefits to them (and their firms).
  • We do not tell our Clients how to do their job. The “Role” we seek to earn with every Client is one of Operational Catalyst, or (if you prefer), some form of Trusted Advisor. The former is a very specific term and refers to our Operational, bottom line results focused approach. We use the term “catalyst” in the chemical sense to refer to the fact that we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our Client’s business, but we are not affected, or effected by the politics, processes or any other internal issue. We just seek to help our Clients achieve the business results they want. Period.
  • Everything we do is purpose (custom) built. In short, we do not have a pre-planned template, or process we drag Client firms through regardless of their business needs. Once we determine what each Client wants and how they want it, we build the Engagement to deliver those Outcomes. It is important to note that on occasion we are asked to develop Deliverables which we cannot- for various reasons- achieve. If this is the case, we immediately tell the Client. We call this problem the “Teaching Pigs how to sing” issue. Basically, it frustrates us and generally irritates the pig, so we don’t attempt to do it!
  • Andover Partners is not classic “training” or “coaching” or “consulting” (although there are elements of these processes in what we do). Rather, we focus on helping our Clients to build the Skills Sets, Capabilities and Capacities to realize their most important business goals, so that they can be the most successful possible in their current role. In most cases, this process is NOT a “quick fix” and competitors who tell our Clients they can deliver the same benefits in less time are selling fantasy.
  • We like to have fun! We just don’t say that- we mean it. The basis for some of our practices are drawn from U.S. Military Special Operations development and it is a proven fact that our Clients learn faster and retain more information if they are having fun working with us.
  • Finally, we often work in conjunction with and in support of other HR and Training programs. As a result, you are able to benefit from (what we call) the “1 + 1= 3 effect.”
